Emily and Brandon’s wedding day began with preparations at the Sheraton Suites in Cuyahoga Falls. While the two days prior to their nuptials were full of rain (leading to a slightly nervous couple), the day of the event stayed dry (although a little cool) and the sun even poked through on several occasions. The couple also had the benefit of Emily’s father providing ongoing Doppler radar updates throughout the morning preparations. Despite all the what-ifs that go hand-in-hand with autumn weather – Emily was calm and relaxed throughout the day, and we knew we’d be able to work together to take some great shots.
Because the couple did not have a bridal party, we were afforded the opportunity to have extra time taking portraits of just the two of them. From the Sheraton, we moved to the wedding ceremony and photographs at the elegant Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens in Akron. While we’ve shot at Stan Hywet before (and it’s one of our favorite locations), this was our first opportunity to take advantage of the brilliant fall foliage in conjunction with the stunning Tudor architecture and the well-manicured gardens that this wonderful site offers.
After the ceremony and the portraits at Stan Hywet, we headed back to the Sheraton for the reception. Wedding guests were greeted by a classically elegant décor in the hall, with gold trim all around and gorgeous white floral centerpieces provided by Perfect Petal Designs. After a wonderful meal, Emily was able to pull off one final surprise – she danced the father-daughter dance to a song from “Phantom of the Opera” – a song that had special meaning for the two of them ever since he had taken her to see the play as a young girl. We truly enjoyed being with Emily and Brandon on what turned out to be a wonderful day for their union, and we wish them all the best together!
